Summer…Almost

Tomorrow is The Day. The Day, being, of course, the last day of school. But this year, it’s a bit more than that.

Tomorrow, I graduate junior high school. As of 2:11 pm tomorrow afternoon (school dismisses at 2:10 – yay for early release!), I will officially be a freshman. Wow (read: Huh? Whaaa? Freshman? Oh, yeah, right, freshman. Okay. Sure.)

Yeah, I’m a little scared. Well, actually, to be frank, maybe a teensy bit more than that. Okay, fine, I am pretty scared. Since that initial confession’s off my chest, I might as well tell you why I’m scared. Shall I list the reasons?

  • The workload increases. A lot.
  • The freshman building is insanely confusing. It’s a maze of white wall after white wall.
  • I’m struggling socially, as always.
  • The high school (which I will attend for half the day) is equally intimidating.
  • I’m going to be in a number of classes with kids that are older than me. I’ve had no trouble with being the odd one out in one class, but try 3 and I’m not quite so sure…
  • Our school district is having issues passing a levy and so I don’t really have a clue how my schedule will work out.

But there are good points too; everyone I’ve dealt with at both the freshman building and the main campus has been really nice, and at least I’m slightly familiar with each building ahead of time.

But honestly, I don’t care about all that right now. What’s on my mind is, you guessed it, SUMMER. T-minus approximately 20 hours away.

I’m psyched to be out of school. It’s been a long year, and I am more than ready to kick back and do…absolutely NOTHING! With the exception of a summer gym class (that starts at 7 o’clock am for three whole weeks…yay) and relatively minimal summer homework, my schedule will be pretty open. I’m looking forward to getting a lot more exercise (and a lot more tan, hopefully!), doing some writing projects I’m looking forward to (which should include more frequent postings on this blog), priming myself to become a “fresh-meat freshman”, and generally relaxing. I think it’ll be a summer to remember; I’ll keep you posted!

    • Thanks Joan! My summer is going swimmingly, with the exception of my gym class…haha.

  2. Enjoy your summer. I especially can’t wait to hear all about your big trip!

  3. [...] can’t believe I just typed that sentence, partially because it seems like summer just started yesterday. And partially because of those two fateful words at the end of the sentence: “high [...]
