Lately, the thought of a journal keeps popping into my head. I’ve always wanted to keep a journal/diary, mainly because of the boundless writing practice it provides. It seems like every single time I read a “Tips from the Author” webpage or a writer’s biography, journaling is mentioned. No doubt, it’d be great for writing down and developing ideas, as well as chronicling my life for posterity. So believe me, I’ve tried many times to start one. It’s just that a) I never seem to know what to write – and am so intimidated by the thought of hundreds of blank pages sitting in front of me, and b) I simply don’t have time to follow up on it, or just forget about it.
Now, though, more than ever before, I feel like it’s something I don’t just want, but need to do. What with starting high school and everything, I think the need to write it all down is more pressing than it ever has been. And hey, I’ve got DOZENS of blank journals in my room just waiting to be used. I only wish this urge would’ve come to me when there was more than – oh, about 36 hours until my first day of the chaos otherwise known as freshman year!
